A Bargain Value

YOU are worth it, YOU are valued, YOU are loved.

The constant bombardment of worldly gain and self-esteem driven by comparative worth can push us into an existence of self-doubt, sadness, and a sense of unimportance. We strive day in and day out (the “grind” if you will) to achieve; better homes, higher salaries, career mobility, growth of stature, better relationships, stronger will, character improvement, etc., only to be shorthanded life’s lemons. Pursuing those things are good, and God wants those things for us. But along the road to achievement there are pitfalls and setbacks that tend to trip us up. Outside forces that pull at the sensitive and well-guarded areas of our mind and personality can break us, and deviations from the plan make us feel like we have no power in this world.

Remember the comforting words of Paul to the church in Philippi:

“6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:6-7

Peace is an undervalued and oft forgotten consequence of leading a Godly life. Not necessarily peace in a physical sense, we know we are to follow in the likeness of Christ and bear the scars of service unto Him (Galatians 6:17, John 15:20), but peace in a sense of understanding the bigger picture, the greater purpose. Peace attributed to knowledge of salvation and security in Christ, peace in knowing God knows us, that God sees us; not just as a unified body but as individuals. God’s love extends to his people (plural) but more than that it extends to the personhood of each member of that group (singular). God loves us, but he also loves you and works many wonders through you and for you.

Remember your worth in all that you encounter in life. Let the peace of our Lord build you up. Stand tall and proud with the knowledge that God values you. Remember that your importance and joy and peace are given fully, freely, and expectantly from the creator of life itself.

“You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.” - Psalm 86:5

“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” - Zephaniah 3:17

In Him,

Tony
