The Person We Choose to Be

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” - Joshua 24:15 We all have an idea of someone who we desire to be more like. Maybe it’s a quality they have or just how they carry themselves. The thought occurred to me about how I wish I had different qualities as a person and then a different thought occurred to me. The thought that keeps ringing in the back of my head is the fact that I’m going to be a senior next year. 2019 and I’ll be out of high school. T

The Power of One

We heard a devotional by brother Chip Nelsen on Wednesday about the importance of each member of the Church, and how we need to aid those of our number who are struggling with this concept. I loved this topic, and wanted to run with it in a bit of a different direction, but I had to give credit where credit is due. “(4)There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; (5)one Lord, one faith, one baptism;(6)one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:4-6 We are to be one; that much is evident in these verses. The Church Knows Not the Sound of Silence

Whether in dense silence or in overwhelming noise, we are a people capable of talking, even without speaking. We are called to stand out in the world, such that we emulate God’s light in our lives (Matt 5:14-16). It’s always a wonderful thing to be able to sit and talk with someone about our Lord, but in recent days, the medium of linguistic communication has become a violent battlefield of ideas where none are spared and mouths are hushed.
